Ratings Advisory

Credit ratings are important to many of our clients as an external assessment of their creditworthiness which will have an impact in terms of perception versus comparable companies and potentially their cost of funding. We work with many companies seeking to understand their likely credit rating in connection with funding options or specific transactions that they may be considering within an overall treasury strategy. We are able to model published financial information and business plans in order to assess likely outcomes within a specific range in order to inform early decision making. In addition, we often work with clients which have existing credit ratings in order to test potential changes in their business strategies or plans by assessing their possible impact on the credit rating of the business.

Should unrated clients seek to enter into a formal rating process, we are able to support them through the due diligence and credit positioning elements as well as overall project management. This includes support with preparation of a management presentation to the ratings agency or agencies and a dry run with Q&A and identification of potential areas of weakness or challenge in order to address these at an early stage.

As well as working with corporate entities, we have experience of asset backed, project finance and securitisation transactions and the ratings methodologies employed in respect of these issuers and are able to structure and model transactions in order to ensure they meet the relevant ratings requirements and stresses.
